Another Chance to Excel

This semester, Hubbard Middle School will implement “ACE” Another Chance to Excel, in all of our classrooms. Our expectation is that all students submit assignments to their teachers in a timely manner.  Furthermore, when a student fails to submit assignments in a timely manner, this will be considered a behavioral issue rather than an academic one. We do not wish to continue removing points from academic work for a behavioral issue. So, ACE provides us with the ability to hold students accountable while giving them full credit for what they have learned.

Here is how ACE works:

  • Students who have not returned required work will be given a note home(stapled inside the agenda) indicating the missing assignment.   This form will state the last acceptable date to turn in the work, along with the date for a classroom detention if the work is not completed.
  • Your student will sign the form, and is expected to bring it home for your signature.  Work may be turned in any time prior to the classroom detention, and the detention is dropped.  There will be no grade penalty.
  • If your student does not return the note with your signature or the work itself, you will receive a call or email informing you of the situation.
  • Students who do not turn in the work and do not attend the classroom detention will be referred to the Assistant Principal.
We hope our students will take advantage of the opportunity Another Chance to Excel provides. Please contact any of your child’s teachers if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Dr. Scott Farler
Principal
